Our director, Brent Tamati, is a fully licensed builder with over 30 years building and carpentry experience and 12 years at the helm of Direct Building Solutions.
We bring over 30 years of traditional building skills combined with modern performance techniques to deliver high-quality homes. Our committed, skilled and highly talented team brings together a mix of qualified professionals and tradespeople focused on achieving quality finishes and projects that make us proud.
To ensure you are always aware of what is happening throughout the project, we constantly engage in clear and transparent communication during every stage of the work. We understand that the building process can be daunting and overwhelming and we want to make sure you know what is happening every step of the way.
Clients will have 24/7 online access to your project through our interactive project management system called Buildertrend. You will have your very own client portal where you can view progress photos, reports, and updated project documents in real-time. We really want you to be involved and enjoy this wonderful journey.
We are committed to set and respect realistic timelines and budget, which we will agree with you during a detailed consultation. We guarantee there will be no unpleasant surprises. Should some unforeseen circumstances arise, such as poor weather or project changes, we will discuss the details with you before setting new timelines and budget.

Magic story
I grew up in Blenheim, a small town in the northern part of New Zealand’s South Island. It was a beautiful place to grow up. As kids, we would always be up the hills, climbing trees or sliding down the hill face on cardboard boxes. It was so much fun that we wouldn’t get back home till sunset. In my teens, I loved playing rugby/league and softball. On the weekends, I would also enjoy fishing and swimming in our beautiful rivers and skiing in the winter.
At a young age, I learned how important it is to have a solid reputation, as my neighbour was a highly skilled local builder who was always in demand. Watching and helping him renovate his home over time, as well as enjoying woodworking during school, I realised this was my calling to be a craftsman of this trade. So, at the age of 15, I became an apprentice carpenter under the leadership of Ron Davis, a thriving residential builder based in Blenheim.
Mr Davis only demanded perfection. He did not allow me to pick up a power saw until I could cut straight with a handsaw. He would not even let me use a nail gun for the first 2 years, only a hammer! He taught me to be a master craftsman and how to complete detailed and complex projects from the ground up. He taught me to build well!
In 1995, I moved to Australia, where I continued to be involved in the trade, and in 2007, I completed Certificate IV in Building through the Master Builders’ Association of NSW. I became a Fully Licensed Builder and Direct Building Solutions Pty Ltd was formed.
Most of my weekends are now spent as a family, doing kid's sports, enjoying the beaches on hot days, and also dirt bike riding with my sons through some of NSW's outback trails.
Some takeaway points of my career as a craftsman are always being transparent and constantly in communication with my clients. I find this to be paramount to the success of the project and I end up meeting some great people along the way.
You will surely have a part to play in your home. From the beginning, you will be meeting with me and our site foreman to discuss the progress of your home. We will then update the project schedule and communicate that to all parties, so everyone understands how the project progresses.
